About Lesson
Dark Stage
Light independent stage i.e. does not depend on light energy but instead use ATP.
This reaction is called Carbon (IV) oxide fixation. It is the reduction of Carbon (IV) oxide by hydrogen ions using ATP energy to form a simple carbohydrate.
It takes place in the stroma.
Involves combination of Carbon (IV) oxide molecule with hydrogen ions to form a simple carbohydrate and a water molecule.
The carbohydrate formed is first converted to glucose molecules, which may be used in the cells or converted to starch for storage.
