Advantages of Asexual Reproduction

  1. Maintains beneficial characteristics.
  • Because the new offspring are identical to the parents.
  1. Faster development and maturity.
  • Because it does not depend on fertilization.

 

Disadvantages of Asexual Reproduction

  1. Transmission of undesired qualities.
  2. No genetic variation hence lack hybrid vigour/quality improvement.
  3. May cause overcrowding and competition due to faster growth and development.
