About Lesson
FOOD CHAINS
Food chain is the linear representation of the flow of energy from a producer to other organisms.
It is composed of producers, consumers and decomposers.
Example
Green plants are eaten by herbivores and the herbivore is eaten by a carnivore.
When these organisms die they are broken down by decomposers.
The arrow shows the direction of energy flow.
When the decomposers are included in a food chain they usually placed at the end.
