Competition
It is the struggle for resources. The resources include nutrients, space, mates or light.
Exists in two ways:
- Intraspecific competition – competition between individuals of the same species.
- Interspecific competition – competition between individuals of the different species.
For a limited resource, organisms with suitable structural and behavioral adaptations survive while others without such adaptations may die out or migrate.
Competition is severe if the ecological niches of competing organisms are close.
