Characteristics of Class Chilopoda

  1. Body divided into 2 parts; a head and a long trunk of up to 15 segments.
  2. Have dorsoventrally flattened body.
  3. Have 1 pair of antennae.
  4. Have 1 pair of legs on each segment.
  5. Have poison claws on the head.
  6. Are carnivorous feeding on small animals.
  7. Gaseous exchange is through tracheal system that opens to the outside through spiracles.
