Introduction to Evolution

Evolution is a gradual change of living organism from simple life forms to more complex life forms over a long period of time.

Evolution provides the basis of explanations for great diversity observed in organisms in terms of sizes, shapes, structures and diversity of habitats.

The Origin of Life

Two theories attempting to explain the origin of life are;

  1. Special Creation theory
  2. Chemical Evolution theory

Special Creation theory

Holy books; the Bible and Quran narrate that the whole universe and all there is, was created by a supreme power “God”.

It holds the following views;

  1. That life was brought into existence by a supreme power or being “God”.
  2. That life forms were created in a perfect form and have remained the same over a long period of time.
  3. That this knowledge is based on belief or faith and cannot be challenged or disputed since;

It is held by all major religions.

It cannot be contradicted by science.

It cannot be tested scientifically.
