Image Formation and Interpretation
Light from the object is refracted by cornea, aqueous humour and lens through the vitreous humour and focused onto the fovea centralis.
The image is recorded as real, inverted and small.
The photoreceptor cells become stimulated and nerve impulse is generated and transmitted by the optic nerve to the cerebrum for interpretation.
In the brain the impulses are interpreted and the object appears real, upright and normal.
The images from the left eye are interpreted by the right cerebral hemisphere and those from the right eye by the left cerebral hemisphere.
